Trauma Orthopaedic Surgery

Predominantly surgical activities mainly aimed at the treatment of diseases of the large joints such as the hip, shoulder and knee using prostheses and, where possible, arthroscopy. Particular focus is given to medical therapy, and especially surgical treatment, for injuries resulting from sports trauma.

Sports Medicine

The work carried out, in accordance with Regional Council Resolution 193/2003, comes under the competencies of what may be classified as a second-level facility, characterized by the provision of services for prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation aimed at those who practice sport. Certification is also issued of eligibility for competitive and amateur sports activities in accordance with existing Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) rules and regulations.

General Medicine

The activity is aimed at patients suffering from acute diseases of a medical nature of the different systems: respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, and so on. Use is made of the team's own expertise as well as consulting specialists in cardiology, angiology, surgery and rehabilitation. In accordance with the USL (local health authority), the service also provides support for the admission of patients from the Emergency Department of the San Donato Hospital in Arezzo, in accordance with a protocol agreed between the two facilities.

General surgery

The discipline is currently the most representative of all the health activities carried out in the hospital and consists of multiple approaches for different systems: a large volume of laparoscopic and conventional surgery of the gastrointestinal tract; diagnostic and interventional endoscopy; dermatological, plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery; gynaecological surgery including laparoscopy are all routinely carried out.

Cardiology

The activity includes the provision of specialist diagnostic services: physical examinations, electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, Holter monitor, ergometry, stress test and BP monitoring. The service also carries out routine tests or requests made for hospitalized patients.

Angiology

The activity is aimed at the medical treatment of diseases of the circulatory system, with special attention to peripheral arterial and venous diseases, primary or secondary to other diseases; the sector is one of the most historically significant for the hospital and the staff have developed a high level of competence that is universally recognised. Particularly valuable is the treatment, during hospitalization or in the outpatient clinic, of chronic venous ulcers according to established protocols that ensure high success rates.
